Change files/folders sorting in File Open window

Change files/folders sorting in File Open window

Right now Creo displays content of File Open window in an odd order when sorted by filename: first there are all folders with names starting with uppercase (sorted alphabetically), then all folders with names starting with lowercase (also sorted alphabetically) and the last ones are folders using non-ascii characters (also in first-uppercase last-lowercase order). It looks like this:

Base

Clutch

Fan

Window

bucket

case

trimmer

Łyżka (spoon in Polish )

łódka (boat)

More natural order of sorting is like this:

Base

bucket

case

Clutch

łódka

Łyżka

Fan

trimmer

Window

and that's the way every other program and Windows sorts it's files.

I could never understand why it is like that.  Dumb.

Haha, it's a throwback to UNIX where upper/lower case mattered. I think it should be gone too.

Maybe if PTC would quit wasting development money and time on writing OS functions and use OS system calls to things like directory displays, etc. we would see a uniform look to the software. They don't need any special displays as they only support Windows now, so use the MFC calls to make all directory displays uniform.

Ben, how would the native Windows calls display Creo's multiple file versions?  Would the user be forced to see all the versions on disk, or could it be set to filter out all versions but the latest?  How would it be able to filter *.asm.* from *.prt.*?  I would be surprised if there is a built in Windows mechanism for handling how Creo stores files, thus the need for a dedicated dialog..

Idea is Acknowledged and makes  a valid point. While currently not in our immediate plans, this is a candidate on the for roadmap to increase alignment with MS Windows behavior.
