Changing accuracy from relative to absolute for several parts more easily

Changing accuracy from relative to absolute for several parts more easily

I usually work with large assemblies in Simulate, sometimes with more than a hundred assembled parts. I am not able to mesh the entire assembly, if I don't change the accuracy from relative to absolute, and try to use approximately the same values for the parts. I have to open up every part separately and make this change, which is extremely time consuming.

In Simulate, there is a Tolerance Report button in the Tools group. You can click the links of the part names and highlight them in the 3D-window. It would be extremely helpful, if you were able to click on the tolerance values in this list, and be directly routed to the Prepare -->Change accuracy window for that part. This would save so much time! Another alternative would be to being able to just click a button and change the accuracy for all the parts in the assembly in one click.

If you don't want to wait for PTC to develop this you can create your own automation with J-Link (free), SmartAssembly ($$), or Toolkit ($$$$).  We use SmartAssembly and have a little program that does things like this - change accuracy for all models in an assembly, workspace, or working directory.

Thanks Tom for your advice. Unfortunately my company does not have a license of SmartAssembly. My co-worker has used J-Link some times, maybe he can help me. I have to find some time to do it though. Nice to hear that I'm not the only one who thinks this is annoying. I initially submitted this as a support case to PTC. It seems like they have no interest what so ever in adding this kind of functionality. Interesting that the users have to create homemade scripts in order to perform basic repetitive tasks, which should be easy for PTC to add.

Hello,

Anybody had any improvements on this? @MarcoBertozzi did PTC replied to your request?

Unfortunately Automation and JLINK is not something I am familiar with.

Thank you.

My installation of CREO don't have this application. Is it normal or do I have to install other things?
