Create drawing with template with a simplified rep (not master rep)

Create drawing with template with a simplified rep (not master rep)

With current functionality, it is not possible to specify a simplified rep of a model when you begin a new drawing WITH A TEMPLATE. It is possible to do this when you start a new drawing empty or with a format.

Please add the functionality to start a new drawing with a template using a model with a specific simplified rep (not the master rep).

This one reared it's ugly head again today. If I try to start a new drawing using a DRAWING TEMPLATE, I do not get the option to select a simplified rep. In this particular case, it's probably the difference between 30 minutes waiting for the master rep to load just so I can set the drawing rep that would only take less than a minute to load.

Drawing templates are supposed to be improvements on the whole drawing process instead of massive wastes of time!!!

It's only drawing templates that have this problem, if you start a drawing with just a format or empty, you get to choose your simplified rep up front and therefore you avoid the potential of a LOOOOONG wait for that large assembly to load.

PTC need to correct this oversight!!!

Oh man...7 years later, here I go again...I just finished cleaning up my model rep. Large assemblies are a pain, so managing simplified reps are a requirement.

Large assembly drawings are even a bigger pain so having a good simplified rep to reduce the number of models in memory is a necessity. I was just to the point of creating the drawing and thought, hmmmm, as a rule of thumb, I use drawing templates to start my drawings, its just good practice. I clicked thru the options, then noticed, why, why, why is it taking so long to get the drawing started...ohhhhh...drawing templates can't use simplified reps to start with, its loading the master rep...wait, didn't I just spend the last 2 hours tidying up the model...

I guess I'm just an idiot!

Just started a new drawing but this time I realized BEFORE I selected the drawing template to create the drawing. See PTC is training me well to not use templates because they make me load the master rep instead of my simplified rep...hmmm

I guess I should ask if anyone has noticed if this is still a problem. We are on Creo 4 so maybe they fixed it...see, I still have hope, I'm not completely worn out.
