The current functionality as defined by PTC as working to spec creates an additional assembly & adds a suffix to part names when opening a assembly step file. I know how to manage my files and don't need PTC to protect me from overwritting my original files.
Use Case:
Extra assembly file is created that must be managed or restructure assembly before saving. (work that should not have to be done)
If trying to dumb down parts/assemblies, restructure & renames required. (work that should not have to be done)
When creating STEP files for customers/vendors I need to reimport to make some changes then export again. Then on the customer/vendor side the part names don't match the PDF's of drawings supplied.
