Create user hole tables from graphic interface

Create user hole tables from graphic interface

We really need to enhance the hole table interface.

I would propose that a graphic UI to allow any sketched hole or revolve sketch be converted to a user defined hole table.

This would include creating the annotation note structure.

We have UDF and we have sketch palettes.  Now we need to expand the hole library capabilities.

The motivation here is that there are so many threads that PTC has not coded.  And diving into creating full fledged hole tables for entire hole families is not productive for everyone when it is the odd hole often used.  In my case, a 1 degree angled 1/4" 80 and 100 TPI thread is often used.

PS; what is this I hear that hole table can only use 3 characters in the name?  !!!  Who made that silly rule in the specification?  I stand corrected on this.

I tried to use the current functionality provided in Creo 2.0 (M130) hole tables to come up with a way of automating the creation of the SAE ports.  I gave up and the end result was a fairly close, but ultimately wrong, representation of the hole geometry, and a counter-intuitive workflow (user specifies "tapered" hole, even though SAE ports use straight threads).

Therefore, I vote UP this is a worthy and ambitious challenge.

But I'm not sure what is meant by this 3 character limit... I have recently made table named ISO-COARSE.HOL, and it works fine.

Thanks.  I got the character limit from Ben ... How to create straight NPT’s in Pro/E Creo

Oh, and yes, it was your idea that got me thinking that this is really needed.

I haven't messed with hole tables because I don't want to manage them from release to release.

Well, I guess I don't worry about implementation changes from release to release when it comes to hole tables.  They seem stable unlike mapkeys and ui customizations

And I don't rely on the hol files in the Creo installation directory (by storing my own tables and having the following option in my config.pro):

! Hole tool Options

!================================================

hole_parameter_file_path c:\Prowork_Creo2\my_config\holes

I feel that developers made the standard hole tool work fairly well with text based tables.  If only they just took a look at some of these product ideas...

Yep, the file location is what I typically have trouble with.  I wasn't aware that you could specify that one.

Compatibility hasn't changed... probably since Pro|E

This idea should be high on anyone's list that creates or includes hydraulic port fittings in their designs.
The ability to define one's own custom holes holes like SAE ports (j1926/1) with notes for drawings should have been added to Creo/Pro/E years ago.
