Creo 8 Hole Tables and Unnecessary Leading Zeroes in Hole Notes

Creo 8 Hole Tables and Unnecessary Leading Zeroes in Hole Notes

1. Describe your environment: What is your industry? What is your role in your organization? Describe your stakeholders.
Industry - High End Electronics

Role - CAD Admin / Manager

Stakeholders - Engineering, downstream teams, vendors, etc.

2. What version of Creo Parametric are you currently running?
8.0.4.0

3. Describe the problem you are trying to solve. Please include detailed documentation such as screenshots, images or video.

Please reference new functionality here:
https://support.ptc.com/help/creo/creo_pma/r8.0/usascii/#page/whats_new_pma/core-new_note_tokens_patterned_holes.html#

Please reference case: 16331630

When patterned, we would like our hole notes to have a prefix of "4X ". We would like to use:
&HOLE_INSTANCE_COUNT&HOLE_INSTANCE_X_SYMBOL&HOLE_INSTANCE_SPACE
However, some of our notes start with "TAP #&FASTENER_ID"
If we combine the two together, we get
"&HOLE_INSTANCE_COUNT&HOLE_INSTANCE_X_SYMBOL&HOLE_INSTANCE_SPACETAP #&FASTENER_ID" where "SPACE" and "TAP" are combined together to form SPACETAP. This isn't a valid value and therefore isn't evaluated properly. Therefore, we need to include a space before the word TAP. Which means, we are forced to have it look like this:
"&HOLE_INSTANCE_COUNT&HOLE_INSTANCE_X_SYMBOL TAP #&FASTENER_ID"
The problem with this is that when there is no pattern, there is a leading space before the note starts. For example:
With a pattern "4X TAP #6-32" - Good
No pattern " TAP #6-32" - No good - extra leading space.

Is there a workaround or another way to deal with this? Can a future datecode somehow 'fix' this?

Thanks!

4. What is the use case for your organization?
Including Hole notes in drawings or MBD where the notes are clean and neat in relation to the leader when being patterned.

5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization?
It would ensure consistent hole note formatting, cleaner and higher quality drawings.

@TomU ,

What am I doing wrong? I tried:

&HOLE_INSTANCE_COUNT&HOLE_INSTANCE_X_SYMBOL{o:&HOLE_INSTANCE_SPACE}TAP and got:

then I tried &HOLE_INSTANCE_COUNT&HOLE_INSTANCE_X_SYMBOL{&HOLE_INSTANCE_SPACE}TAP and got:

@jwagh,

Use a number (zero, one, two, etc.), not an 'o'.  That article is wrong...

You can see how this works if you go to a drawing, highlight one portion of a text note, and then change just that selections formatting (font, size, etc.)

It works. Thanks! I let my support engineer know the article needs to be fixed.
