A functionality that would make Cabling excel would be to enable support for Devices with Pre-Assembled "Pigtail" wires/cables and Pre-fabricated cables without the need to generate new instances every time they are added to a new assembly.
Take for instance a Sensor or Surge Protection device that is sold with 18" conductor leads. Instead of modeling the wires in Creo Parametric, I would like to define the pre-assembled wires as Entry csys where I can predefine all of the parameters including the addition of "MAX_LEN" Then when added to a Cabling Assembly, it should become its own harness and if when routed the length is longer than "MAX_LEN" then route would fail do to this. In this way, there is no need to create a family table and new instance for each application.
Same would go for Pre-Fabricated cable assemblies. The connectors on each end should be dynamic so that one could assembly each independently and the Cabling application could leverage same logic above the cable in between is routed.
This is functionality I do not believe any other Schematic to 3D solution offers and yet it should be a requirement for all of them as they are so many devices and pre-fabricated cables that are supplied this way. Attached is a pdf of a Surge Protection device that I commonly use. Note in figure one, the pigtails. It does not make sense to model wires for each application or at all as the position of these wires is infinite. Patch cables are the exact same.
