These ideas stem from discussions with the PTC users whom have attended my Creo Cabling courses, my experience with competitive products and industry / customer requirements for electrical documentation.
Users are looking for more common simulation, analysis / evaluation of there documented designs in Schematics and Cabling environment. 1. Load based, 1.a User enters the Simulation interface, selects Load type of simulation to run, enters in design requirements, analysis runs and Entities in both Schematic highlight with tool tips describing event at those entities. 1.b Example: A surge goes through a system would highlight input voltage cables and Disconnector only if the surge is beyond the capacity of the disconnector or run through the rest of the circuit as designed. 1.c Results of simulation can be Quick, saved or Features for use in Report and Tables 2. Logic based, 2.a User enters the Simulation interface, selects Logic type of simulation to run, Here the system evaluates all of the components of the design and generates input fields for these devices 2.b Example, simulation a n Position selector switch Simulator evaluates the Selector Switch Position Option and provides a GUI ui to change the position. As the position changes the down steam circuitry highlights, and if an event happens down circuit light LED indicator the event is identified with result.
3. Common analysis/evaluations requested as they are often required for Testing and Validation so they should be able to be saved, and or features with bi-directional communication between schematics and model 3.a would include Short--Circuit Current Ratings calculation 3.b wire size calculator to determine proper wire size based on Wire Resistivity, length of wire, Load Current and Allowable Voltage Drop of source voltage. 3.c Voltage drop calculator
