Creo Simulate - Create New Planar Displacement Constraint to Substitute for Mating Component and Contact Constraint

Creo Simulate - Create New Planar Displacement Constraint to Substitute for Mating Component and Contact Constraint

Hi PTC,

Please Create a new Planar Displacement Constraint in Creo Simulate FEA that may be applied to a surface of a component to allow additional movement off plane in the positive direction but provides contact pressures/forces in the negative direction.

Imagine trying to setup an analysis of the structure of a complete engine and using simplified reps to isolate various portions to verify the constraints, loads, and load paths are set up properly. It would be very helpful having this new Planar Displacement Constraint with lift off in Creo Simulate FEA to allow you to run an analysis of the head assembly without the block in order to shake out the simulation setup. This would allow you to simulate the block being in the assembly to some extent and its contact pressures.

Granted you can use a spring with different stiffness in both directions to do this today.

Thanks,

Don Anderson
