This was talked about at the TC meetings with great interest/Concern by the users and PTC. I would say it is likely we will be seeing it in a future release.
Creo 3.0 embeded explorer supports chrome instead of firefox.
This functionality will be available in Creo 3.0 M010 referring to https://support.ptc.com/appserver/cs/view/solution.jsp?n=CS164131
by set config.pro option windows_browser_type from the default value ie_browser * to chromium_browser
