Define a deformable parts in configuration. Deformierbare Teile in Konfiguration definieren.

Define a deformable parts in configuration. Deformierbare Teile in Konfiguration definieren.

A range of spring can not be defined in the configuration. In other CAD you can define a deformable part programs for this purpose. This command is missing from the Modeller. A spring should be shorter when enabled.

I have used several techniques to work around this limitation.

First, I have used a container under a model with alternate models under it. For example, a container under the model of spring in its "free state" could contain a model in a slightly deformed state and a model fully deformed.

I have used this container approach with configurations on assemblies which contain those parts. So, if that spring is used in an assembly, I can create a configuration of that assembly which moves the parts such that the spring should be slightly compressed. In that configuration, I would turn the "free state" model of the spring off in the drawlist and turn the "slightly deformed" model of the spring on in the drawlist; that way when I activate the configuration, I see the correct model for that configuration.

Lately I have used the Stock/Finish relationship to define the relationship between models in alternate configurations (deformations). So the "stock" model for a wire would be its flatten model while the "finish" model would be the model that is routed in the product. The advantage of this approach is that the relationship can be seen in Model Manager.
