Drawing dimensions can not be preserved by changing asm file from prt file

Drawing dimensions can not be preserved by changing asm file from prt file

If you add parts from the prt file and become an asm file, the drawing dimensions will not be preserved.

Therefore, it is inefficient every time it is rebuilt from scratch.

I hope the drawing dimensions are preserved.

It would be a nice to have a procedure that converts the part drawing into an assembly one.

Please explain what process you are using and what your desired result is?

You will have much better luck with product ideas if you are clear and concise.

A procedure within drawing environment started by a button that says "Select the assembly you want to address the current drawing".
The procedure "feels" the ID utilized for dimensions/leaders/sections in the old part and takes them back into the new one.

This would be a very complicated piece of code to accomplish.

You need to understand the background of a file and how it relates to views on a drawing.

A line in a view of part A on a drawing may have internal ID 106. That same line in a view of assembly B containing part A may have an internal ID of 423.

The internal IDs are created for each view. The mapping of what is a line from a part to what is a line of an assembly would be very difficult for the software to cross-reference.
