'Easily' generate a flat ribbon's pitch

'Easily' generate a flat ribbon's pitch

Even though I am a little dejected by having about 20 of my ideas "archived" this week, we'll still try to improve the product. IDEA:

Connector datasheets provide a pitch value between conductors/contacts for flat ribbons. However, you can't enter that value into the 'thick' field in the spool. Instead, you need to run some crazy calculation to generate that value. Really?

If the 'thick' value in the spool doesn't correlate to anything 'physical' then why not just have the value mean the conductor thickness. All we need to do is put in the pitch value and that's it.

Thank you for publishing your idea @jwagh. I understand the deception and appreciate the effort to improve Creo. However, I am going to be a stickler here... We need more information as specified in the form you saw in the submission process. (Questions below as a reminder). The more details and context you give, the better.
Please let us know within the next two weeks.

1. Describe your environment: What is your industry? What is your role in your organization? Describe your stakeholders.
2. What product & version are you currently running?
3. Describe the problem you are trying to solve. Please include detailed documentation such as screenshots, images or video.
4. What is the use case for your organization?
5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization?

@olivierlp , I believe some of these responses (and even questions) should not necessarily be public. In addition, writing this out for each idea is repetitive and might continue to alienate people who would want to suggest an idea.

1. Describe your environment: What is your industry? What is your role in your organization? Describe your stakeholders.

We do integrated systems for large organizations, businesses, homes, etc. I am the cad & business admin, cad manager, trainer, tools developer..etc.
2. What product & version are you currently running?

Creo 7.0.6.0
3. Describe the problem you are trying to solve. Please include detailed documentation such as screenshots, images or video.

See above
4. What is the use case for your organization?

Basic Cabling with a flat ribbon. Very common with PCB products. Almost all of our products use PCBs.
5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization?

Right now the cabling module doesn't work well for basic flat cables.  I opened 5 tickets with support today and 2 ideas (those with articles). The articles seem to say that the tool 'is what it is'. In the below picture, you cannot do this with the cabling module. I spent 5 hours today playing around with it. However, I did it in 3 minutes using a sweep.

I couldn't get an accurate diameter, routing preview, extension and bending. There were mysterious twists being added, changes to the geometry every time I went into the feature.... the list goes on and on.  Which means, we can't use the tool. If we can't use the tool, then we can't train the users on the module. Then we need to explain to our leadership why we can't use it. Then we need to explain to them why we are paying for these products and modules if they are giving us issues (ECAD, DEX, Cabling, Windchill integration, etc...). I would prefer to have the tool be useable. As I said, I don't think some of these responses need to be public. This is the sanitized version ;).
