Enable rmb menu text

Enable rmb menu text

The new rmb menu icons are not intuitive and new and seasoned users alike are getting very frustrated at having to mouse over icons and wait for the text to pop up, where previously, the commands could be seen at a glance.

Yet another drawback from PTC glomming on to Microsoft's poor vision of office functionality to make the menus more familiar "looking", but to the detriment of the function.

An easy way to remedy this would be to allow the text to be shown next to the icon:

PTC, please allow text to be shown for rmb menu icons.

This would make for a nice option.  I understand conserving space, and would probably eventually want that but to learn the icons it would be helpful, and I am sure other users will always want it on.

I am reminded of those paste icons from excel.  Excel does this but is 5x worse!

I always give up and just use the paste special which just lists them with text

That being said, I do like icon identifiers, but too much can be overwhelming, frustrating, and difficult to commit to memory depending on how frequently each are used.

And to top it all off, on the next release, they will decided the icon needs a fresh new look and you'll need to re-learn it again.

Ahh, I think we have another bitter Windchill user! 🙂  I completely understand!

As for the old WC icons, I actually liked the old WC 9.0/9.1 icons better.  I still don't get some of the ones they changed them too.

Yeah, so many people have to take a second to hover over the check-in and check-out icons to see which is which.

Exactly, it's obvious that PTC is just copying MS even though the usability is worse.

It would be nice to see some original attempts at a UI that actually improve the CAD workflow.  This one is interesting: Why don't add quick selection wheel from freestyle mode to normal mode

They actually did this.  Did you try the Creo 4 beta?  There are a bunch of new icons, and none with text descriptors (very similar to Solidworks.)  Some of these icons replace existing text commands (Hide, Show, Suppress, Resume, Pattern, etc.)

Hi All,

This is possible; article CS244936 has been updated. To make this change for features in both part and assembly mode in Creo 3.0, follow these steps with a part open and then again with an assembly open: File > Options > Shortcut Menus, select Features from item list, expand Primary group, right click on Edit Actions > show as regular commands. The article discusses the Creo 4.0 menu options as well.

Regards,

Mike
