Export PDF File name

Export PDF File name

When we export a drawing to a PDF format, creo just creates the pdf with the drawing name. Most of the times, it is not enough to track the version of that drawing by just viewing the name and renaming the file is just a tedious task. If PTC comes up with an option to customize how the naming should be created while exporting the drawing to PDF, it helps us organize the pdf versions better and reduces manual effort. For example: if a drawing having a file name 'Nut' and having a drawing parameter's 'item_Code=T112233' and 'Doc_Version=X2'. If creo allows us to export it as Nut_T112233_X2 , it will reduce major effort in renaming them manually.

Not only PDFs, but i think this functionality should be extended for any export file types, namely, STEP or IGES.

In case of no parameter defined, it could get export with the filename of the part, assembly, or drawing, as is current behaviour, but if the user defines in the PART or ASSEMBLY, or DRAWING a parameter "EXPORT_FILENAME" then that filename, if assigned and is operating system valid, should be used as the export filename. This would allows to do automation to include a version or date when exporting the files, we just have to concatenate strings from other parameters or functions to define our intended filnemaes and avoiding manual and slow renaming processes.

For instance, in our case, most of our clients want us to export the 3D STEP files with something like this: "MXXXX_YYYY-YY-YY_ZZZZ_RWW" where XXXX is a mold number, YYY, is a part number, ZZZZ, is the export date, WW is a revision. (ie, M3459_102_2022-04-21_R01). This forces us to always rename the Creo assembly and part files beforehand to export them as intended. If the export algorithm would allow to take into consideration a string parameter for the STEP/IGES/PDF export filename, we could always keep the same filenames in a project, (we don't use windchill), and the export process would always be a lot faster and less error prone. Also, the filename template example is for one of our customers, multiple custumers have different filename conventions, it would be  alot quicker to change "convention" or "filename template" with specifying a parameter and using pro/program than to rename any Creo files whenever we change clients.
