You can currently assign different materials to different instances, red_6_12_nylon and yellow_6_12_nylon, but as soon as you bring in a second instance, the are all the latest color added. The suggested copying all solid surfaces work around is not acceptable for many models. This was requested in 2014 and still not fixed.
