Flexible component in a Mechanism dynamic analysis

Flexible component in a Mechanism dynamic analysis

It would be interesting to have the possibility during a dynamic analysis of Mechanism to be able to define one or more components as flexible. At this point a 360 frame analysis would become an analysis with 360 associated FEM analyses that the software should solve. Obviously, the solution times would be longer, but in some cases the deformability of the components is not negligible during the motion (for example in the dimensioning of the suspension arms of a SUV).

PTC's multibody is further back the others.
In this kind of analysis it would be great thing implement multi-thread computation like Simulate's linear analysis.

Hi Giulio,

I completely agree with you regarding the multi-thread computation. Of course if you compare Mechanism for example with Adams or others similar softwares, of course it is far behind them, but I otherwise think that the correct approach is to compare it with others kinematic tools embedded into CADs. I also hope that the current partnership with Ansys can affect also this area of Creo products. Time will tell.

I wish you a Merry Christmas and a wonderful 2019.

Hi Alessandro and thanks for the wishes. I've been returned today to work and I've seen only now your reply...I also hope you had have a nice end and a better start.

Precisely because I saw an increasing interest of PTC in the simulation environment in this few last years that I hope in the will of "boosting" also the multibody; because till now it was boosted only the "FEM environment" (eg: the topology optimization, the CFD and the last Simulation Live).

When Mechanisms was introduced and Mechanica Motion killed off we lost flexible beams.

Yes it is true. Also the Tire Model as well.

And the ability to permanently switch of springs and dampers by using
conditions.

Yes, absolutely correct. I use point to point force with user defined profile with associated domains to workaround this. I know it is not the same but in some cases could be work as well
