Forcing a user to do a Save-As from Within Windchill vs Creo

Forcing a user to do a Save-As from Within Windchill vs Creo

It would be great if there was a mechanism in place that forced the user to use the Windchill Save-As instead of the Creo Save-As. This helps when dealing with legacy assemblies, windchill templates, rules, etc. Even updating the Creo Save-As to better integrate with Windchill and their templates, would be great.

Can you provide an example use case?

Here's an idea for Creo Assembly Save A Copy Improvements. There are several gaps in the current Assembly Save a Copy menu.

@lhoogeveen There are many. One use-case that happened a few days ago was a user who did a save-as of a part that was really part of an inseparable assembly. With the option rename_drawings_with_object set to both, creo did a save-as of the drawing without the assembly it was using. Therefore, the new drawing ended up using the old references. In Windchill, the reference control would be a little better. Another use-case is with managing a save-as of a product. It is easier to exclude and remove objects to ensure the right items are undergoing a save-as. We've had users forget to do a save-as or a model or did a save-as of too many objects, and it took a while to fix or redo. A third has to do with WTParts. Our IT team is working on developing WTParts as part of our early PLM rollout. We've been using Windchill for over 20 years, so we have a lot of models in various levels of compliance to our latest processes. When doing a save-as from Windchill, there is better control with WTParts and associativity then doing it from Creo (as far as I understand from what IT is telling me).

Thanks!
