When one creates a curve from ibl file with Get Data > Import and then uses this feature to create some other features that depend on this one, after this feature is updated to a new source (via ATB update and change link), all children will lose reference. So in effect the update to a new source of this feature is a destructive operation and doesn't really represent a redefine of a feature. The internal feature ids are recreated which causes all children to lose reference. This behavior renders this kind of feature useless since the references to children cannot be maintained. Why such a behavior was implemented in the first place in the software which is based in parametric modeling is quite strange. So, this "product idea" is a request to make this feature actually work as it should and as other features in Creo work and that is to be able to retain connection to children after redefine.
