I would like to decide about localization of std.out file

I would like to decide about localization of std.out file

  1. Our company deals, among other things, with the production of ventilation elements and inspection doors. Personally, I deal with the design and implementation of new products, as well as the creation of the necessary documentation.
  2. Currently, our company does not use the WINDCHILL program.
  3. I would like to decide about localization of std.out file. Currently this file is created in default working directory. This localization is very special. I would like to have there only my own files.
  4. We use the PTC Creo program to design new products and create documentation.
  5. The option to save files in the selected location would save our time, which we waste in constantly removing unwanted files from the working folder. Additionally, it would keep order in the documentation directory.

Hi Maggy,

What version of CREO are you using?

Hi Olivier,

I'm using Creo 7.0.8.0.

In your desktop icon that starts Creo, set the Start in: location to a local folder for you.

In Creo you can then set your Working Directory for saving your files.

Are you using local installs of Creo or a network install?

Default working directory is  a very important catalog. I have there my configuration for Creo. I don't want to change my default working directory. I'd rather new config option to set location for std.out file.

I'm using local installs of Creo.

Start In folder is separate from Working Directory.

The default Working Directory can be set in your config.pro file.

I've never heard about  config.pro option  to set working directory.

My mistake on that being a config.pro setting. Confused with Default_Workspace setting used with Windchill.

Each user should have their own directory for starting Creo from. We use c:\PTC_User\<usename>. The desktop icon for launching Creo uses that folder in the Start In field. This would be where the std.out file is written to. You can then set the Working Directory once Creo is open.

Depending on how complex your assembly structure is would drive the folder setup. Search paths become critical when dealing in native OS filing.
