Import and Export of BIM Models

Import and Export of BIM Models

Some of our customers supply their product to the construction industry and have to by law in 2016 supply Building Information Model (BIM) objects of their products on projects of value £5million in the UK.

Does Creo have this capability.

The model geometry needs to be in IFC or Revit format.

In addition it would be very useful to associate the non graphical information with this data on export for inclusion in the Building Information Model

Hello,

I am going to (week 7-2016) test new software (non PTC) to export from Creo Parametric 3.0 with Windchill to IFC (ifc2X3) format for Aconex BIM.

It will look @ the simplified rep & a filter for which parameters/rep to export.

The software developer will offer this software to PTC, as a basic export format in Creo Parametric 3 & 4.

For large project you have to do/have BIM by law in Europe!

So if PTC is smart.....

First prtscn of the test in Creo 3.0 M080 with Windchill.

I really would like to know what your findings are. What software are you talking about? I assume it is from Srinsoft.

Similar enhancement request here, though more specific for IFC.

Here's another +1 for more import/export options (for example IFC)

PTC continues to monitor the demand for supporting the BIM format for data exchange. At this time, we are working closely with our partner Srinsoft (https://www.srinsofttech.com/cad-bim-interoperability-products.html) to offer the solution to our customers.

Currently, PTC does not have plans to support this format natively in Creo, but will re-evaluate as demand increases.

Hello PTC

In the industry a lot of customer need the BIM model (IFC format) to add it to the overall project.

It would be good that this will be integrated in Creo that IFC 4 latest format can be Imported and Exported.

And also that it can be done via Toolkit to optimize our process

The demands are increasing all over. We need this feature as soon as possible to meet the requirements for many projects.  We loose projects and business if we are not capable to provide BIM-Models and every additional interface tool is just an additional risk to loose quality and data on the way.
