In future use the UNITE framework to join yourself to a newer set of Creo files

I had the opportunity of attending a hands on session yesterday and found myself wondering if in the future we could handle newer versions of Creo in the same way that Solidworks/etc can be handled. Assuming we were on Creo 3 now and Creo 4 comes along, it would be nice to let the folks who can use that tool for good go use it without totally disrupting the design chain. Maybe this could be nicer than the GCRI method. Similarly wouldn't this be another approach to allowing direct modellers and parametric modellers to kindof coexist without messing up feature trees too bad?

I have been wondering this even with Creo.  We can open all these other formats but a newer version of Creo is simply ignored.  This seems like the easiest conversion that PTC can make.  Attempt to open a newer version with as much parametric definition possible in a native environment.  I suspect that 90% of models would generate fully parametric definitions when sent back many versions of Pro/E.
