Leave counterbore diameter when changing between close & free fit on diameter of hole

Leave counterbore diameter when changing between close & free fit on diameter of hole

I have a special counter bore for clearance with a socket wrench.

Having typed it in, I changed from close fit to free fit and it changes the CB diameter back to the standard file definition. Please leave a typed in value the same. The same thing happens going from free fit to close fit.

Manually entering the counterbore diameter:

Changing to close fit:

Manually reentering the counterbore diameter:

Changing to free fit:

Thanks.

It is probably changing because the system has to re-read the values from the table for the close fit vs free fit diameter.

This should be expanded to: Capture all user entered values before reapplying system values when a change is triggered by the user.

This may take some extra programming in comparing values against what is coming from the tables or a flag on a value that the user has overwritten.

Some of this is being considered in the Creo 8.0 – Hole Feature Enhancements.  Preserving the user's entered values may not always be the right solution.  What if the user really does want to return to the system defined values?  The bigger problem is lack of visibility into which values have been altered and which are still using the pre-defined values. Under what circumstances should a value reset to the predefined value?  Turning the counterbore off and back on?  Switching fastener sizes?  Switching series (UNF/UNC)?
