MBD with Sheet metal and flat state

MBD with Sheet metal and flat state

MBD does not allow you to have a formed part and a flat part within the same model using simplified reps without giving errors for annotations. Also Creo does not support this to be exported out to a PVZ file for the Mfg floor to with all states of the part. Creo has designed simplified reps to be allowed in assemblies for exporting. We are a very large company that was sold on MBD for Sheet metal, but it does not fully work if we cannot use simplified reps in the parts and export both the formed and flat states out to a viewable PVZ file. We would like to have an enhancement created to allow a formed state and a flat state in the same model to be exported out to PVZ.

Why do you need a simplified rep of a piece part? Manufacturing should need the full model for the cutting or bending processes.

The simplified rep controls the bend and unbend for a formed and flat part within the same model within the combined states. No longer need a family table to control a formed part and then the flat pattern of the same part.

A new Flattened Representation state was added in Creo 5.   It appears to work as expected.

Support for Creo View was supposedly added in Creo 6 according to PTC documentation.  However, so far I am unable to successfully generate a PVZ file that includes the flat and formed model.

Were you able to get this to work in CREO 4?

Flat rep is not backported to Creo 4.

Creo View 6 publisher is correctly displaying the flat rep.

PTC has created a Creo View adapter that will generate a correct Sheet metal part that has a formed part dimensioned and also a flat dimensioned part with all of the bend notes and other necessary dimensions needed within the same PVZ file. If a user wishes to see these properly, they will have to have Creo view 6.0 or newer. I have been working with PTC for over 1.5 yr's to get this to work properly. It is not perfect. More fixes are coming in the near future.
