Make CAD Version available as parameter that can be shown in drawings

It is usual to show the CAD program and its version on the drawing title block - for example in a field named "CAD System and version".

It would be useful to have a Parameter (e.g. named as "PTC") which value is the actually used CAD (e.g. "Creo 2").

This parameter could be taken into the drawing template and is refreshed automatically (also when a new index is created which is drawn with a newer Creo version)

Not sure of the benefit for most users as they don't run multiple versions of CAD simultaneously. We only use Creo 4.

We put Creo in the border of our format file so it does identify the authoring software.

You could handle this the way we do the copyright year and put the information in your drawing template and then upgrade the parameter whenever you upgrade your software version.

For a contract house who may utilize multiple versions, it may be beneficial, but getting the code to update would be a concern. What would you use to trigger the update? Would you want the information in the drawing and part/assembly file? Take that information out into Windchill or your PDM/PLM system? ModelCheck does have a version/build check option, maybe incorporate the results into a visible parameter.
