When using the Mass Properties tool in an assembly, it only calculates the volume and mass of the full assembly. It would be useful to be able to select a single part (or multiple parts) and query its mass properties (or the sum of multiple parts' masses).

You can display the mass properties of the components in your model tree.

You can open the component, check mass properties and then close it.

 

Multiple options on mass properties, which DEFAULT one would you like IF it was available as a right mouse click on the part name in the model tree?

I don't think it should be on a right mouse click menu. The Mass Properties tool should have a list of selected components to calculate the mass props for. That list should default to the part or assembly that is currently activated.

It can display the masses of all components with the config option

mp_calc_level set to all_models

 

Unfortunately the output is terrible. This idea aims to fix that:
