We are starting our investigation with MBD. It would be nice if we can reference the Creo material name in the notes. However, the material name within the library doesn't allow spaces and it would look weird to show a note:
The material name used internally in Creo Parametric should be independent of the file name. This way it is possible to use the correct material names for documentation in drawings or for MBD. Besides the fact that the name doesn't look pretty, it's also not a designation as required by the norm.
In principle, Creo allows such names to be assigned (see picture below), as long as they are only stored in the model. However, if you want to save the material as a *.mtl file, spaces, brackets and periods are not permitted in the material name, for example, since it is also used as the file name and the file system naturally has these restrictions. At this point, the material name should be independent of the file name.
Alternatively, it would also be possible to store your own parameter with the correct material name (for example: ALTERNATIVE_MAT_NAME). Unfortunately, I have not yet been able to display the value of a parameter defined in the material, e.g. in the title block of the drawing.
