We make "gears" with very different shapes on the male teeth. And getting the proper female profile in the opposite gear is very time consuming. currently I have to pattern a high density of datum points along the male tooth, and use trace curves for all those points onto the female. The spline through curves, then remove.
It would be great, if you could just select the driving or merging part (male) and the part to remove interference from (female) and select the analysis and it simply removed material wherever it touched! One step further would be to be able to specify a clearance value between the 2 parts.
Once I had a single female profile, I could pattern that around for a complete gear.
Thanks!
