ModelCheck FORMAT_NAME - Allow No Format Option

ModelCheck FORMAT_NAME - Allow No Format Option

Currently it is not possible to allow for drawings to have no format while using ModelCheck FORMAT_NAME option. Please add an option to allow no format as we create DXF drawings without drawing formats and need an ModelCheck option to allow a drawing to not have a format. This would be option the Creo Admins could decide to use or ignore.   Another way to "solve" this today would be turning off the format display but this would require a change of a lot of legacy drawings. It would be much simpler to have to option of allowing no formats or not.

Is ModelCheck being run automatically or manually? If manually, create a different configuration/setttings file (I forgot what they are really called) that you use only for exporting drawings to AutoCad that does not do the check.

Getting PTC to modify ModelCheck for anything is like waiting for the 3rd blue moon in December to appear.

Agree with @BenLoosli. In your Condition.mcc file you can write an NOCHECk condition if a specific value for a parameter is found.

You can add a parameter to the drawing and if this parameter is found then MC will not run.

Or you can write another exception to use a different checkfile in the condition file, where you dont have the FORMAT_NAME check.

ModelCheck is being run automatically upon Save - we want ModelCheck to be easy/hidden for our users unless they're doing something wrong. Looking for a specific parameter would create a loophole for people that wanted to use their own unofficial formats and would also probably require all of our DXF drawings to have that parameter added. I would still vote for PTC just adding this as an option for admins to decide whether to implement. I'm also trying to avoid having lots of checkfiles which would become very annoying to keep changes in sync.

@manjunathrv Can you show an example of condition in the condition.mcc file that would change the check file based on whether a parameter exists or not? I can't seem to find an example in the PTC documentation that looks for a parameter.

Sorry in delay responding. Somehow I was unable to login to community.

In your condition file add as shown to the ignore if a parameter exist.

IF (your parameter EQ YES) NOCHECK

@manjunathrv Thanks! From my brief testing, the IGNORE_FORMAT parameter would have to have a value of YES for your example (which is fine). Here's a couple examples I tested that simply looks for a parameter existing regardless of parameter value: IF (EXAMPLE_PARAMETER) NOCHECK or IF (EXAMPLE_PARAMETER EQ *) NOCHECK. It'd be nice if PTC would enhance the default condition.mcc file to include a more obvious example of checking based on parameters... The default condition.mcc examples includes IF ( NOCHECK ) NOCHECK but it wasn't obvious that NOCHECK was a parameter. Thanks again!

Another FORMAT_NAME idea: For new drawings we may prefer users use the latest drawing formats and for older drawings it may be optional for users to update to the latest format(s). However, some people think they're allowed to use these older formats for new drawings if they're in the approved FORMAT_NAME list. Possible solution: allow a Format Warning list (for older formats) and Error list at the same. Ability to customize the text shown to users would be very helpful too.
