Modify Relation Driven Dimension

Modify Relation Driven Dimension

I would like to be able to modify a relation driven dimension without going to the tools tab, opening the relations dialog box (change the look in to Section when in edit mode), finding the correct relation, then making the change, and returning to what I was doing.

Ideally the relation would be shown in place of the dimension and you would be able to change the relation or replace the relation with a number.

A simpler approach could, when trying the edit the dimension, open the relation dialog with the relation highlighted.

I use relations to drive some dimensions in my part sketches to create the appropriate dimension that can be shown on the drawing and still keep the design intent, such as symmetry or length of thread on boss.

An interesting idea.  Would you be looking to modify the relation itself (say, dim is a component placement offset, driven by OFFSET = LEN1 + LEN2, where the two lens are dims or params, and you want to change that definition?  Or OFFSET = 5.0, and you want to get directly to modifying that line of the relations?  Or are you thinking of the case where the dim is set to be equal to a parameter or another dimension: DIM_LEFT = DIM_RIGHT, and looking at DIM_LEFT you want a command to modify the value of DIM_RIGHT?

Or for the simplest approach, a command that would open the relations dialog and point you at the (last) line which assigns a value to this dimension, and let you continue from there as you like?

All of these could be made a bit tricky with cases like if-then statements in the relations, which assign the dim value differently under different circumstances.

I would like to be able to modify the relation, such as changing sd5+20 to sd5+25.  Or even change it back to a hard dimension.

For a simpler approach, opening the relation dialog with the relation highlighted would work well.

I generally, in sketches, use relations like sd4=sd2/2, sd20=sd17+8.5, or sd9=sd11-14.
