As far as I can figure, this is needed only for curves (not surfaces) used in axisymmetric models. In all other situations, element edges DO show and thus users know where nodes are. However, when all or most features in your axisymmetric model are curves (shell elements), all one can see is entire curves: There is no way to discern how many elements are along that curve.
If one is trying to construct a presentation showing many different analysis results (which may have different meshes to capture different loads) then this is a big problem for an audience trying to have some confidence in the results they are seeing.
