Need support for &sym(<name>) in 3D notes

Need support for &sym(<name>) in 3D notes

Please provide consistent interface and functionality for annotation across the product suite.  Currently &sym(<symname>) cannot be placed in a 3D annotation.

PTC SUPPORT response:

Please be informed that it is not possible to insert a symbol in an annotation through ‘&sym(<name>)’, this is as per current product functionality.
As SPR was already submitted on this which has been closed as ‘Works to Specs’ by R&D and will be considered as enhancement request for future releases.

Tim,

This was a limitation in Creo 2.0 that has been implemented in Creo 3.0.  In Creo 3.0 this is possible with one caveat - this will not work if the symbol definition contains a call out to a model dimension (&d#).  It's worth mentioning as well, the symbol must first be placed in the model and then you can call it out in a 3D note using the syntax you mentioned &sym(<symbol_name>).  This is documented in TS article CS69664.

A new product idea would be required to address the specific caveat I mentioned.

Regards,

Mike
