Note in drawing with time information e.g. 12-12-2012 12:12 PM (date; hour; minutes; ...)
file_timestamp_format %dd-%Mmm-%yy %Hh:%mi:%ss %PM * dos not add time information in note with &todays_date
&todays_date gives only “month – day – year”
Is this not an error / bug, rather than a suggestion for new functionality?
It was PTC that suggested me to open an enhancement in 2009 ...
Here is the enhancement transformed in an Idea
The original call: c7131142 - PTC TS
If PTC considers that as a bug, they open a SPR.
Proposed solution or current work around:
Customer is using the option "Label" when printing, the problem that if user
doesn't want the updated time (printing time), and would like to keep the
time when the drawing was modified the last time.
How this enhancement would impact your business:
Easy and flexible update of the date and time in the drawing.
I would be happy, if I could generate a note in a drawing with any kind of useful parameter - even system variables e.g.
- date of last modification
- date when the file was saved tha last time
You need to do 2 things to get system parameters into a drawing note.
1) Set a relation of your parameter to the system parameter: my_timestamp = ptc_wm_modified_on
2) Put your parameter (&my_timestamp) into a table on the drawing.
I have just tried in creo 2 drawing to add a relation:
timestamp = ptc_wm_modified_on
Creo does not accept this relation and replies that is does not know "ptc_wm_modified_on"
The same happens if I try this in a model.
That parameter only exists when Creo is linked with Windchill.
Unfortunately I'm looking for a solution without windchill - just with plain Creo Essentails. I would think the software is expensive enough that it should allow such basic features.
Nope. You're out of luck. (Kind of like the lack of a real-to-string function.) For a software package like this, and as long as it's been around, it just doesn't make sense why some of these basic things haven't been added yet.
