Open new part after Save As Copy

Open new part after Save As Copy

Add the option "Save Copy and Open" to Save a Copy for parts, similar to the same operation with an assembly.

This would prevent making changes to the original part when the new copy is the one that needs modified. Most programs automatically open the new file when a Save As is performed, Creo should work the same.

There isn't a solution?

This is such a simple function, yet Creo doesn't have it. Please implement this as an option.

Please vote at the top to let PTC know this is needed (wanted).

I'm surprised it is still a new idea with 52 votes.

It isn't a matter of complexity.

Will this enhancement drive new sales of Creo? If it did, the product development team would be implementing it.

Notice PTC has not even acknowledged this request.

God forbid PTC actually took care of their existing customers by streamlining workflows or whatever....

I agree with @BenLoosli This enhancement will not drive sales. If you use Windchill, it is recommended to do Save As in the Workspace. We did a comparison and found differences in Save As in Creo and Save as in Workspace that cause extra steps when using the Creo method.

We teach our engineers to do Save as in Workspace.

@kdirth you can probably get a moderator or a community manager to acknowledge it using "notify moderator". They may ask you add the answers to the stock questions that are now part of the requirements for ideas to make it past the initial stage.

There is no single feature which will cause PTC to lose Creo sales, but when you add up all the little time sinks and workarounds like this one, you create a product which I will never recommend to anyone. Want to use an existing sketch as your sweep profile? Nope. Want to export a DXF from a selected face of the 3D part? Nope. Want to "Save as a copy and open"? Nope.
