Currently PTC says this is working as they want it to... However, you can create a DFS in the model and place it on a dimension extension line inline with the dimension, meaning the datum plane is at the center of the feature and is a datum center plane. Now you show the DFS on the drawing, it shows inline with the dimension, however you can simply click on the DFS and drag it so it's not inline with the dimension. Now you have a datum that means something totally different than the model because the model does not update according to what is done to the drawing. PTC says this is how it is suppose to function. I have never come across a situation that you would want the model to have a single datum have different meanings between the drawing and model.
PTC should update this functionality to make this parametric.
