Parametric Symbols

I would like to implement a function when creating custom symbols, that allows the user to make some geometries variable.

For instance a rectangle can have variable length on the height and the width. In this case it shall be possible to enter value for length and widht when placing the symbol.

If there are a fixed set of alternatives, you can manage it with groups in the symbol definition.  For freely being able to have your rectangle of whatever height/width, it gets pretty complicated pretty fast -- naturally, you would want the note inside the rectangle to be centered nicely, and the notes or other geometry right/left/above/below the rectangle to be adjusted as well.  We have enough experience doing this for the well-defined case of weld symbols when we revamped them recently to know that the UI for the symbol definition alone would be, shall we say, quite challenging.  You may find the best results here from a customization (Toolkit or one of the other APIs) that makes variant symbol definitions on the fly to your specifications for your use case (which I presume is a lot simpler than the general-purpose workflows we would have to support if we tried to implement this idea).
