Colour coding for MBD/MBE purposes can be a very tedious task without pattern members inheriting the appearance(s) of the first member. Particularly relevant for hole features, when workers need to know where to drill and instantly can recognise what hole type to drill based on colour coding. This is standard functionality in competitor CAD solutions, and for PTC to promote MBD for so long it is strange to me that this is still not incorporated.
In Creo 10, the new function Copy Surface Appearances in Boolean Opertations is hopefully a first step towards other functions being able to keep the appearances from their original geometry... for instance in the pattern function 😉
