We have large assemblies and or large step files that can take several minutes to open. It would be nice to have a progress bar.
How do you measure progress?
Different files of the same size on disk can open in different times depending on the complexity of the design in the file. Also, an assembly is very small, but may have complex components that would have to be recalculated when they start opening.
Look at a Windows folder copy. It gives an estimated time to complete the copy, then changes the time when it starst working on a sub-folder. I did one today that said 3 hours but jumped to 6 hours after it started copying another sub-folder.
Same way Creo View does it. Number of components loaded / total number of components. I understand there are regen times that will make things longer but at least you will get some idea of where you are.
