It would be nice to have an option to randomly assign a color to newly created parts rather than to just have them all default to the same color.

Thanks for that link. I have a custom function that does that already; I just don't want to have to run it every time I create a new part.

Functionality can be done as customization, e.g. by subscribing to the "right" event.
