When a weld symbol becomes dettached, allow reattaching by right clicking on the weld symbol and use edit attachment versus having to right click and go to properties for the weld symbol, click on the box for attachment and then re clicking the attachment point/points.
Using the edit attachment by right clicking on the symbol dirrectly distorts the weld symbol.
Or if the preffered method is opening the symbol pallet, when you click on edit attachment for the weld symbol, it should open the symbol pallet instead of trying to let you directly edit the attachment and then fail.

Or since editing the attachments isn't directly possible, it should be greyed out forcing you to go to the properties box.
