In Wildfire 5.0 there are stories of an "Auto Fix" button within Import Data Doctor. It's been a few years since I've used Wildfire 5.0 but I believe this to be true.
I know any sort of automated fix won't fix everything, but it would be nice if there was a functionality to essentially do a repair on all portions of import geometry.
One model example I had today, was an import of a parasolid. had 7 bad vertices in geometry check. I did an activate on each component in IDD, Repair, and deactivate.
It got the list down to 4 with almost no thinking involved. You might be able to rig up a mapkey to do all this, but why?
We get a lot of models from other sources as STEP/IGES/etc. and sometimes they don't come in as solid. Most of our end users don't know how to use IDD. I've used it more than anyone here and I still don't even fully understand how to use it to fix models. We even went to the effort of purchasing an additional tool to help fix these models as well as helping with shrink-wrapping.
