Restore system color scheme selection from pre Creo UI

Restore system color scheme selection from pre Creo UI

I would like to have functionality at the same efficiency restored in the Creo UI to control system colors. This is the WF5 drop down and the initial selection has been removed in the Creo UI. You now have to explicity provide a path to a syscolor file and read it in to set up the system colors which  takes much longer than a pick in the drop down menu. A mapkey is a workaround but mapkeys are not supported in new releases as the UI can change and they must be rewritten. I would like to get the scheme pick menu functions put back in the UI.

The difference is actual very subtle.  Both options will reload a system colors file.  If you have a systems color file predefined in your config settings, both the "Initial" in Wildfire 5 and "Custom" in Creo 3 will take you directly back to it.  (No browsing is required, just reselect "Custom" from the drop down.)

*** The difference is, the Wildfire 5 option will always take you back to the original systems colors file specified in config.pro, while Creo 3 will reload the last loaded systems color file. ***

What does this mean practically?

  • If you are manually changing the system color settings and want to get back to your default, nothing has changed.  Both commands work the same and will take you back to your original settings in the same number of clicks. (5)
  • If you are manually loading different system color files and want to get back to your default, you will need to manually browse to the location of the original file.  This could potentially involve many extra clicks depending on where you store your system colors files.
  • If switching between different color files is something you do on a regular basis, create mapkeys for them!  Why click 5 times (or more) each time you need to switch between them when only one click is required to execute a mapkey?

From the Wildfire 5.0 Help Documentation:

  • Initial—Resets the color scheme to the one defined by the configuration file settings.

========================================================================================

From the Creo Parametric 3.0 Help Documentation

  • Custom—Resets the color scheme to the one defined by the configuration file settings. PTC Creo Parametric automatically selects the Custom option if you change colors, load a .scl file, or if PTC Creo Parametric loads a .scl file automatically during start up.
