Restore the Ability to Control Annotation Display in the 3D model With Layers

Restore the Ability to Control Annotation Display in the 3D model With Layers

Well, according to this document, the ability to control the visibility of annotations by layer was removed in Creo 1.0, Parametric.  It is now recommend to use "Combined View States" instead.

This is fine if you're doing model based definitions, but it's a cumbersome substitute if you just need to see a note on screen occasionally.

We need a simple, on demand method of controlling the display of annotations in the 3D model.  Layers worked well for this, that functionality should be restored.

Hey PTC, you're supposed to be ADDING functionality, not REMOVING it......

Creo 4.0 and later versions allows the user to define the type of their combination states (CS) and define which elements will be controlled with layers and which will be controlled with combination states. there are 3 available types:

Full MBD state: Both annotations and supplemental geometry visibility are controlled with CS (not layer control)

Semi MBD state: Annotation visibility is controlled with CS while supplemental geometry (e.g. datums, axis, points etc. ) are controlled with layers

Non MBD state: Visibility of both the annotations and the supplemental geometry are controlled with layers.

Here is a snapshot of the UI that enables this control:
