A feature to convert a spline to arcs with a tolerance value.(And arcs --> spline not just in sketcher...)

This would be very helpful to have some kind of curve approximation not only the possibility of export as poly line.
This is a big problem in manufacturing as well. We do a lot of irregular shapes which generate splines for a tool path. therefore output is very small line segments, which generates a toolpath where tool compensation can not be used. We need to be able to select a spline and CREO should convert it to a best fit curve of arcs and lines. This would be a huge help.
So, there is interest in this for sketcher, draft entities, and toolpaths? I presume the tolerance is linear (do not stray more than X off the source spline). Is it important, or sometimes important, that the result be C1 (no sharp angles, so no two lines in a row, and arcs end tangent)?
For 2/3-axis tool paths, the software needs to 'project' the spline to a planar surface, then convert it to C1 curvature. This would reduce the number of short line segments being processed. Tool compensation should still be allowed, just enable/disable it on a long enough lead-in/lead-out arc or line.
