STEP-Export: Export containers as assembly

STEP-Export: Export containers as assembly

PTC Case CS73839 "Is it possible to export containers to STEP by Creo Elements/Direct Modeling"

I don´t agree with statement in this case.

By exporting containers as assembly, however it would be possible to export them in step format.

In Modeling, many export formats have the possibility to export containers although other 3D CAD systems don't offer this structure.

e.g. SAT, Parasolid, Creo Parametric, Granite, 3D-PDF, ...)

Hi,

if you are using the Select-tool and select e.g. from top or an assembly-level using the "recursive" option in the select-tool, containers are stored as assemblies. If a part contains a container, it will be stored as an assembly at the same level as the part.

Please let me know if this helps in your situation.

Best regards,

Berthold

Any additional feedback for the note I placed before?

If not, I will close the idea.

Thanks

Sorry, i unintentionally ignored your reply.

Your workaround unfortunately does not work as expected:

Assembly structure is destroyed (see screenshot):

exported: Recursive in assembly - /B1

imported: Test_containers.stp
