Set a component "invisible" for the bom in the model tree

I have played with Inventor for some project, and I really appreciate the possibility to set a component visible for the Bom directly in the model tree. If the component /assembly is set as Default Normal(1) - the Bom will normally recognize it If the component /assembly is set as Reference (2) - it will be excluded automatically from the Bom Derivation, Mass Calculus and In the Drawing Environment is shown with a dotted line style. In the attached file an example: the red component comes from another Purchasing Assembly and needs to be used just as "Reference" for other components, It should not be part of the bom of the Asm006.asm, etc.etc. Actually we have to fight with ( Skeleton, Publish/Copy Geom, Exclude in report bom in drawing, etc.etc. I suppose this would be a much easier way. thanks D.

This reminds me of an idea that came out of my job: Allow filtering repeat regions for feature (component) attributes - to exclude unplaced components.

To simply exclude components from a repeat region you can use component parameters:

tree.cfg:
COLUMN "Feat Params" "Reference" 9

repeat region filter:
&asm.mbr.cparam.Reference != YES

In assembly mode click the model tree to create a component parameter (Type: "Yes No", Vaue: "YES")

This does not exclude components from mass calculation—we use manual mass update with simplified representations for that—nor does it control the display style of the component in the drawing. This does also not exclude the component in the assembly command Bill of Materials.

.o(Is it possible to control the component display style from a parameter?)
