When I interrogate an assembly to see how things are constrained, if I click a constraint between 2 datum planes, the datum planes are shown on the screen. However, if I do not have Datum Planes 'Shown', only the plane will show up, not its name. If I want to know its name, I have two choices: I can 'Show' datum planes, or I can hover the mouse over the right part of the constraints dialogue and hope the tooltip pops up. 2 problems:
I had the Datum Planes not 'Shown' for a reason. It's a big assembly and there are lots of them. Many of them belong to legacy parts that have the old-school layer business in them, so the do not come into session with Datum Planes hidden like my new parts do.
Sometimes, the tooltip does not pop up. Don't ask me why or when, sometimes it just doesn't.
Of course, if the dialogue box were designed differently, I could drag it to a different width so I could read the contents of the box, but let's not get carried away...
My Idea:
When I click on a constraint, light up the Datum Plane Tag as well as the Datum plane itself in the model window.
I'm using WF4, M220, by the way. Doubt much has changed, tough.
