Sketched Points need to be brought back from WildFire4!

Sketched Points need to be brought back from WildFire4!

Vote for the "Sketched Point" tool to be added to Creo (useful tool brought back from WildFire4).

With Creo5, we have lost the functionality of sketching datum points directly and independently from "Sketch" tool.

- Sketched Points are displayed as “curves” in model tree. This is not didactic.

- The datum points created with Sketched Geometry Points are hidden with the default Curve def_layer

- Creo5 Sketched Point disappears when layer curve is hidden.

I'd add that the real issue here is controling display, not that there is lost functionality.  We can create an array of points by sketch, but we can no longer control the display of those points independent of other sketch or curve features.  Leave the sketch tool alone if you'd like, but give us better item visibility controls.

This also applies to an axis created by an extruded surface feature.  Hide the axis layer, the quilt goes away too.  Or try to see only the axis and you get the quilt with it, in the way.  There are several instances where one kind of feature creates some kind of datum internally and that means it may get picked up on a layer that you don't want it to, or it may be very difficult to create a rule to pick up all of the various 'points', for example, on a layer.

We've been discussing this internally. As @dgschaefer said, the issue really seems to be about visibility control. When creating layers with rules, you can create a layer that contains only points found in sketches, but you cannot create a layer that only contains the curves within sketches. Therefore, the visibility of each entity cannot be controlled independently.

We could enhance Creo's search abilities to be able to identify these different entities independently. Would that sufficiently address the request here?

Would it also be desirable for the definitions of the default layers to be changed to accommodate this (such that the 03___PRT_ALL_CURVES layer would collect only curves within sketches/features rather than the entire sketch features)?
