The ability to apply a Drawing Template to an existing sheet in a drawing

The ability to apply a Drawing Template to an existing sheet in a drawing

1. Describe your environment: What is your industry? What is your role in your organization? Describe your stakeholders.
Design systems / assemblies to address client challenges - from initial concept to delivering final product.

2. What version of Creo Parametric are you currently running?
8

3. Describe the problem you are trying to solve. Please include detailed documentation such as screenshots, images or video.
Drawing templates can only be used during the creation of a new drawing.  It would be very useful to be able to apply a template to a sheet within an existing drawing.  For multi-sheet drawings this would save a lot of work.  On an existing blank sheet, the applied drawing template would use the currently active drawing model and place the views on the sheet.  This would eliminate having to create a new drawing, and then importing it into an existing drawing.

4. What is the use case for your organization?
Adding details for additional assemblies and/or parts to an existing multi-sheet drawing, and updating legacy drawings, in a timely and efficient manor.

5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization?
Time saved in the revision and addition to existing drawings.

Hello,

Thank you for your idea and the information you provided.

Adding a new sheet will automatically utilize the 'template' that you have used for the existing secondary sheets in your drawing.

What additional information are you trying to gain with this idea?

Creo can be used in many industries, for a variety of purposes, for (hopefully) a multitude of clients.  Most of the disciplines in which I have participated involve designing (usually 'top-down'...but not always) an assembly...with a few parts (usually 10 to 20 - but as few as 2 and as many as 2000).  Whether for the client, or internally, or for fabrication; a typical drawing package begins with an over-view of an assembly (usually 3 to 6 sheets).  This drawing set can be created nicely using various multi-sheet templates.  Now...especially after client redlines and subsequent revisions, I need to add several sheets (usually 15 to 50) of supplemental details, and detail sheets of unique parts.  These sheets are of different drawing models (subassemblies and/or parts).  Currently, there is no method to apply a template to the creation of these additional sheets (currently, a template that places views can only be used when creating a new drawing).  Separate unnecessary drawings can be made using templates appropriate for assemblies or parts as necessary, and then imported into the original drawing set, but this is counter-productive compared to the possibility of being able to apply a template to an existing sheet in a drawing.  Hope this helps to understand the value of this request.
