Currently it is not possible to search for Balloon Notes (PTC CS254195). Having the ability to search for and select all Balloon Notes placed could be very handy.
Details:
We make extensive use of Offset type Balloon Notes (offset from dimensions, GTOLs, notes etc) to indicate engineering changes during a revision, among other things.
It is therefore interesting to be able to quickly search for and select these Notes:
- To delete obsolete balloon notes
- To rapidly select and change the balloon note color (in the case of revision balloon notes scenario mentioned above)
Current methods:
For the first scenario, users need to make use of selection filters and manually drag select balloon notes to delete them
For the second scenario we employ a mapkey that somewhat automates the placement and color change, but it is still error prone.
We have tried other solutions:
- Custom symbols which have no offset placement type available, so user has to use relate to object to link notes
- Layers: We had an idea to use the older def_layer, but sadly there is no suitable option for balloon notes here
Improvement with suggested idea:
Simply adding balloon notes to the Look For/by categories in the Search Tool would allow us to automate both scenarios using simple mapkeys.
